My name is Kathy Carlson.
My husband Jon and I are the Task Force Leaders for the “NEW” Bay Area Ride for Kids which is in Pleasanton
CA . I am not sure if you are familiar with Ride for Kids. We
are the largest financial contributor, beside Government, to Pediatric Brain Tumor research. Ride for Kids holds 37
motorcycle rides across the United States.
Please see www.rideforkids.org for more information on the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and our rides. Our rides are escorted by the Highway Patrol or local
police departments depending on the local of the ride. The best part of our ride is that we have about 15 to 20
children who have had suffered from a brain tumor who attend with their families. Everyone gets to ride on a motorcycle
during the ride. They ride directly behind the Highway Patrol at the head of the ride. Many of our kids still
suffer affects of their brain tumors and have challenges with walking and their equilibrium. The only way these kids
can enjoy the ride is in a side car. We rely heavily on local side car enthusiasts. At our Woodland
ride we put over 60 kids and family members on bikes to enjoy the ride.
We are hoping that you might be able to post our ride
in your newsletter. We are looking for volunteers to join the task force that manages the ride along with volunteers
the day of the ride. We need as many side cars as we can get to escort our kids and we encourage any street legal bike
to join our ride. We can provide information to be distributed at meetings or to put on your web site. I am attaching
a poster of our event.
We are an AMA sanctioned event.
